This year DNS is proudly celebrating 30 years in business, that’s three decades of technology adapting, advancing and evolving. What began as photocopier sales in Macklin Street, Derby, has now advanced into a trusted managed services provider specialising in Managed IT services, cyber security, unified communications and still of course our legacy, managed print services. From what was once a business providing reliable, trustworthy print services in Derbyshire, to now offering innovative solutions not only nationwide but globally too. We are proud of where the business began and the direction it is going next.
Where DNS Began in 1996
Our story started in 1996 with a 25-year-old Darren who had a passion and focus for supplying photocopier equipment to businesses in the Derby and Burton-on-Trent. Four years later DNS then re-located to the business hub of the city, Pride Park. Throughout the years DNS has expanded and adapted as technology has evolved, with office moves, business growth and new service offerings introduced along the way.
“I started in the industry at 18 years old, and I was 25 when DNS was established. What began with ambition, hard work and a belief in doing things the right way has grown into 30 years of trusted partnerships and continuous evolution. I am incredibly proud that many of the customers I built relationships within those early days are still working with us today. This milestone is not just about longevity, it is about people. The talented colleagues who have walked the journey with us, many of whom have become lifelong friends, and the customers who have trusted us through both prosperous and challenging times. Together, we have embraced change, moved into exciting new markets such as Managed IT and Unified Communications and continually adapted to ensure DNS remains stronger, smarter and ready for the future. Thirty years on, the values we started with still guide us and the ambition to grow and evolve is as strong as ever.”

Like every business, over the years the DNS Team has evolved, growing in size and welcoming talented people who have helped to shape who we are today. We are incredibly proud to say that many members of our team have been here for decades, our business development executive, Jonathan, is our longest standing employee having joined us in 2009. His dedication and commitment to DNS, the team and our customers reflect the values at the core of the business.

Many of our team members have built long and successful careers within DNS, and we’re fortunate to have colleagues who have been with us for many years. Many joined early in their careers and have grown alongside the business, supported through ongoing training, professional certifications, and continual development opportunities.
Over the years, we’ve been proud to watch many of our team members grow and develop their careers within DNS. Mark joined us as a Network Analyst and, through dedication and technical expertise, has progressed into the role of Support Services & Solutions Manager. Hugh, who joined DNS with a passion for production print and a wealth of industry knowledge, has since moved into the position of Sales Director, where he now oversees our sales, new business development and marketing teams.

We are equally proud of the long service and progression seen across the wider team. James, one of our experienced Network Analysts, has been with DNS for over a decade and brings exceptional knowledge of the print industry. Elliott joined us straight from school and is now celebrating 12 years with the business, having built a strong career in sales. Connor, who also joined 12 years ago with a keen interest in IT, has advanced into the role of Senior IT Technician, supporting complex technical environments. And Jess, who began her journey as an accounts apprentice almost 10 years ago, has rightly grown into her position as Administration and Accounts Assistant.
As our services have grown, so has the expertise within our team. Today, we’re proud to have cyber security specialists, help desk engineers, unified communications experts and print management professionals all bringing real technical depth to the business. Alongside, our finance, admin, sales and marketing teams that keep everything running smoothly.
DNS Corporate Partnership
Back in 2020, we launched DNS Corporate, our dedicated arm for managing corporate partnerships. Since then, it’s become an important part of who we are and how we connect with the wider community. Martin, joint Director of DNS Corporate, has played a big role in shaping this side of the business. His focus on building strong local connections has helped strengthen our presence across Derbyshire, Sheffield, Nottinghamshire and beyond. Through community programmes and long‑standing sponsorships, DNS Corporate has become a great way for us to support local organisations and stay connected to the people and businesses around us.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we just want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s been part of our journey, our customers, our amazing team and the partners we’ve built great relationships with over the years. Darren and Jennie, our directors, have been at the heart of steering the business forward and your support has played a huge part in shaping who we are today and the services we offer. We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved together and we’re looking forward to many more years of working with everyone.
