ePayMe is a UK-based payroll provider specialising in outsourced and HMRC-linked payroll services. They recently partnered with DNS to modernise and streamline their entire IT setup. Their previous system relied on aging on-site servers and local backups, which were no longer suitable for a fast-moving business. After meeting with the DNS team, ePayMe immediately felt confident that DNS could deliver the transformation they needed. 

DNS carried out a full upgrade, moving the business entirely into the cloud. This instantly improved security, performance and overall efficiency. Staff quickly noticed how much smoother their daily work became once everything was online and accessible from anywhere. The upgrade removed the limitations of their old setup and opened the door to a more flexible way of working.

To strengthen security, DNS implemented several key defences:

  • Enterprise-grade firewalls – digital “security gates” that block unwanted access.

  • EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) – advanced tools that constantly watch devices for suspicious activity and automatically stop threats before they spread.

  • Identity and Access Management – controls that ensure only the right people can access certain systems or sensitive information.

  • Enterprise Password Management – a secure platform for storing and managing passwords safely across the business.

  • Microsoft 365 cloud-to-cloud backup – a second, secure backup of emails and files stored in the cloud, ensuring nothing is lost even if Microsoft has an issue.

  • Remote monitoring tools – these were added to added to every device In order to proactively fix issues before staff even notice them.

Security Awareness Training (SAT) was rolled out across the company. SAT is an easy-to-follow learning programme that teaches staff how to recognise fake emails, scams and other online threats. We partner with Huntress (link to Huntress) for this, as their programmes are especially engaging by using short videos, interactive questions and even a team leaderboard to add a bit of friendly competition, boosting motivation. The value of the training became clear almost immediately, one employee was able to identify and report a phishing attempt thanks to what they had learned.

DNS also handled the complete migration of files and data from ePayMe’s old physical server into the cloud and safely decommissioned the outdated hardware. A centralised email signature system was put in place to keep branding consistent across all devices.

One of the biggest improvements for the team was the move to SharePoint (Microsoft’s cloud-based document storage and collaboration platform). Staff described it as a standout change, making files easier to find, improving team collaboration and speeding up everyday tasks.

Throughout the entire process, the DNS Support Team stood out for their responsiveness and attention to detail. ePayMe explained that every request, no matter how small, was handled promptly and professionally, removing initial worries that they might not get the support they were promised when moving to a new supplier.
