If hosting our 20th Birthday Celebrations at the Derby Velodrome Arena last year wasn’t already enough, our team have gone and shown everyone just how much we love to get on a pair of wheels by taking part in Cycle Derby Spring Classic Sportive which took place on Sunday 23rd April at Markeaton Park, Derby.

The Sportive is an important part of the Cycle Derby and HUUB Events’ objective to encourage more people to become active and healthy. DNS were proud to support the event as a sponsor, crowning Hayden Smedley and Sarah Martin-Smith as King and Queen of the Mountain.

Mark Smith from Cycle Derby explained: “We introduced the King or Queen of the Mountain challenge to add something a little extra to this already popular event. As so many are tackling the longer distances, picking an overall winner has been a challenge in itself. The mountain challenge is effectively be a tie breaker for the teams covering equal distances and is a great measure of a rider’s strength and stamina in tackling the climb.”

A 100m section of Long Lane between Radbourne and Longford was laid with timing chip technology and riders taking part in the 40k, 80k and 160k challenges were timed on the uphill climb.

“We are very grateful to DNS to have come on board alongside Geldards law firm to sponsor this event.  Together they have provided families, individuals and business teams a chance to get out on their bikes and enjoy a day of group cycling.” said Mark.
